Hiyu Wine Farm Noctua

This is a half acre parcel located between Draco and Corvus on the rolling plateau in the NE corner of the farm. The parcel is planted to Prieto Picudo, Babosa Negro, Juan Garcia, Touriga Nacional, clones of Tempranillo from Pingus and over 20 other grapes. The intention when planting the parcel was to create a dark and deeply concentrated red wine with an unusually floral and captivating perfume. The wine expresses itself like a combination of Hermitage and Rioja. It has the dark depths and aromatic potential of the former wine, but there is something about its underlying structure; a red fruited tendency and the way that it takes adapts to long aging in cask that reminds one of the latter.  The 2018 vintage was absolutely massive after it left the press and it required a full four years of aging in a combination of 350L demi-muid and 500L puncheons to harmonize.
