Thibault Liger-Belair Bourgogne Chardonnay les Charmes

Thibault Liger-Belair's Bourgogne Chardonnay comes from different village level sites in the Cote d'Or.  It's bright and energetic, with light orchard fruit notes, good acidity and a clean, minerally finish.  This is an excellent value from one of the top producers in Nuits-st-Georges.

  Deep crimson. The oak is more in evidence on the nose with a touch of vanilla sweetness but also the darker - more rocky/mineral - quality that I find in the Liger-Belair wines. Spice and pepper to the fore. The structure here is more obvious as the fruit is less rich. Finesse and freshness still dominate the finish. As the wine opens up, the whole-bunch component becomes more evident in a lightly stemmy/herbal quality but not at all in excess.
