Poderi Aldo Conterno has, for generations, been one of the most important wineries in all of Barolo, and are the best wines of the Bussia subregion. Owned now by Aldo's children, the wines are continually becoming more elegant and vibrant, with a tension seen in only the best wineries in the world. This mixed case is a perfect way to understand the nuances of one of the greatest wineries in Barolo.
Langhe Rosso 2016: Conterno's Langhe Rosso is a wine made predominantly from old-vine Freisa with some Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. It boasts gorgeous palate presence and depth, with sweet notes of red berries, flowers and spices that add lift on the juicy, pliant finish.
Barbera d'Alba Conca Tre Pile 2016: Barbera d'Alba Conca Tre Pile is piled high with dark fruit intensity, soft tannins and a pinch of fresh acidity that breaks apart the wine's rich fruit flavors. The hot vintage has taken well to the Barbera grape, accentuating its volume, richness and generosity.
Langhe Nebbiolo Il Favot 2016: Notes of candied strawberries are nicely intermingled with hints of ripe stems and citrus. Medium to full body, fine but structured tannins and a rather long finish. The fruit is very well integrated and there’s a whole load of richness to it.
