Yves Confuron's Bourgogne Chardonnay is actually a de-classified parcel of Vosne-Romanee that has been in the family for generations. It's a fresh and clean example of top quality Chardonnay from a rare site in the Cote-de-Nuits.

Deep crimson. The oak is more in evidence on the nose with a touch of vanilla sweetness but also the darker - more rocky/mineral - quality that I find in the Liger-Belair wines. Spice and pepper to the fore. The structure here is more obvious as the fruit is less rich. Finesse and freshness still dominate the finish. As the wine opens up, the whole-bunch component becomes more evident in a lightly stemmy/herbal quality but not at all in excess.
