Domaine de Beaurenard Rasteau Argiles Bleues

From the village of Rasteau (which gained appellation status in 2010) in the Southern Rhone, this wine is a blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah.  Like Beaurenard's Chateauneuf-du-Papes, it is 100% hand harvested, with low yields (30 hl/ha) and 100% certified organic and biodynamic farming.  It has great concentration, structure and balance, showing typical earth and garrigue notes with dark fruit.  This is drinking very well now, and will continue to improve for the next few years.

  A smaller production cuvee, the 2019 Rasteau Les Argiles Bleues is more purple hued and has a primordial bouquet of blue fruits, scorched earth, new leather, lavender, and violets. A serious, full-bodied Rasteau, it stays in the focused, elegant style of the vintage yet packs plenty of muscle on the palate, has loads of structure, and a great finish. Hide bottles for 2-4 years and enjoy over the following decade.
