We've put together a mixed case of crisp, fresh white wines that will be sure to satisfy on a hot summer day (or night!).
Vadio Branco 2018: Vadio Branco is a blend of 40% Bical, aged for 10 months in used French oak, and 60% Cercial, aged in stainless steel tanks. It comes in at 12.5% alcohol. Fresh and clean, this handles its wood rather well—just when you think it is going to show wood, bursts of acidity overtake it. This has fine tension on the finish and that crisp, lively feel. Yet this isn't just a summer white, as refreshing as it is. It should hold nicely for several years and continue to evolve with cellaring.
Granbazan Albarino Etiqueta Ambar 2018: Founded in 1981, Granbazan was the original quality pioneer in the region, the first estate to invest in modern winemaking equipment and trained enologists, the first to use clean, free run juice and cool fermentation to realize the world class potential of the Albariño grape. Today, Granbazan remains ahead of the chasing pack, with its privileged terroir of granite soils planted with mature vines close to the sea, and its continuing commitment to excellence. “Etiqueta Ambar" is 100% free run juice from the oldest vines on the estate, and is the Granbazan signature wine, the most elegant and complete Albariño we have yet tasted.
Lucien Crochet les Calcaires 2017: At Lucien Crochet the emphasis is on creating wines of finesse and complexity that are faithful to both terroir and vintage. The vineyards are located around the towns of Bué, Sancerre and Crézancy, the finest of which is the limestone-based Chêne Marchand vineyard. Gilles Crochet, Lucien's son, makes the wines as naturally as possible using indigenous yeasts. Through hand picking, careful selection of the grapes and long, slow ageing 'sur lie', Lucien Crochet produces sophisticated and age-worthy Sancerre.
