Santa Maria la Nave's 'Millesulmare' Bianco comes from 100% Grecanico Dorato vines on the north-western slope of Mount Etna, grown on one of the highest altitude vineyards in all of Europe. At 1100 meters above sea level, the Casa Decima vineyard is surrounded by old lava flows and a landscape consisting of small orchards and grassy woods. The mineral rich volcanic soils in combination with the extreme high altitude create a simply gorgeous wine that beautifully reflects the land and sea characteristics of the vineyard. Displaying a golden color, this begins with wonderful aromas of orchard fruits which are highlighted by intense minerality and sea salt, with underlying hints of honeysuckle, dried herbs and citrus rind all taking shape beautifully in the glass. On the palate this displays remarkable precision and focus, with bright acidity and lovely minerality keeping it fresh and inviting through the finish. This is an absolutely brilliant wine from Santa Maria la Nave.
